Bad Religion’s Christmas Songs (2013) brings a certain energetic twist to Christmas carols

Yes, Christmas is approaching and radio stations around the world start playing all the traditional Christmas pop-songs like Wham’s Last Christmas, Mariah Carey’s All I want for Christmas is you, and more. As much as I enjoy the build-up to Christmas, I rather listen to Christmas songs with a certain twist.

Punk-rock veterans Bad Religion released a 19-minute, 9-song album on October 29, 2013 simply called ‘Christmas Songs’. The album includes popular Christmas carols such as “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”, “White Christmas”, and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”. According to the website A journal of musical things, 20% of the proceeds from the ‘Christmas Songs’ album go to SNAP (Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests), which is an additional motivator to get this album.

I’ve been listening to Bad Religion’s ‘Christmas Songs’ for the past two Christmas seasons in replay and it hasn’t lost its appeal. I can highly recommend it to anyone, who likes a certain energetic twist to Christmas carols.
