Love Is Your Name is the latest single by US rock icon and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. The single premiered on May 13, 2015.
I have been an Aerosmith fan ever since I saw the video for Janie’s Got A Gun when I was a kid. Then, with the release of Livin’ On The Edge, off the Get A Grip album, I started attending every Aerosmith concert I could reach from where I lived with the little money I had in my pocket. By now I must have seen Aerosmith more than half a dozen of times.
When Steven Tyler joined American Idol as a juror a few years back, I first thought that was a bad move in regard to branding. However, having him on the show made me tune in – I had never seen the show before that – and, to my surprise, I found it interesting; also, Steven was portrayed as an approachable rockstar. Watching him on the show made me revisit his Aerosmith work again, especially those albums I had neglected for more than a decade. In 2011, Steven then released the single (It) Feels So Good, which is a good song, but somehow didn’t live up to my expectations.
Last Friday, July 3, 2015, the video to Steven Tyler’s latest single was released, Love Is Your Name. The song was released on May 13, 2015, ‘on 120 mainstream country radio stations across the United States through iHeartMedia (Wikipedia)’ and on all popular digital platforms. Nevertheless, I had not heard the song until the video came out and was positively surprised by the change in genre. The song is a good country-rock song, that can be perceived as a logic evolution of Steven Tyler’s musical career. He’s been quoted saying that he has some roots in country music. In addition, I believe that a great musician is able to wander around genres without getting lost. Also, Love Is Your Name still carries Steven’s musical touch; I mean, his voice and energy is unmistakable. Kudos also to the writers of the song Eric Paslay and Lindsey and to Dann Huff, who produced the track.
This release is very promising and I can’t wait for the entire album to come out.
